Congrats to Grammy Winner!
Koji Nakamura, master taiko drummer from the Shiga prefecture of Japan is the 4th musician in Japan’s history to be honored with a grammy. He recently moved to Los Angeles with a vision to share the spirituality and healing of taiko drumming. His dream of world peace and reverence for the beauty, power and art of taiko drumming is apparent when you hear and see him play. Nakamura’s high level of integrity and sincerity in the playing of taiko has connected him with world famous musicians, such as, cellist, Eugene Freisen and saxophonist, Paul Winter. The grammy was awarded for the cd entitled “Crestone” created by Paul Winter with beautiful guest appearances by Koji Nakamura. “Crestone” is a stunning portrayal and embracing of the nature of that area. One can feel the beauty of Crestone when listening to the cd.

Koji Nakamura will perform in Santa Fe at Santa Maria De La Paz on March 1st at 2pm in the Japanese Cultural Festival organized by Santa Fe JIN, www.santafejin.org . Please go to www.MadiSato.com for more details about Koji’s performance and the Festival.

Fusion of R&B, Folk and Japanese Music at BODY

Hi Everyone! Sending you a warm hug and a sweet melody for the New Year.

Where: BODY in the Soul Room - 333 W. Cordova Road, Santa Fe
Price: Suggested donation $10-$15

I have new music since my travels to Western Australia. I am playing the piano now. Writing songs from my heart which is now the heart of a mother. It has been 2 years since I’ve sung my own songs. I primarily was focusing on traditional music from Japan, with collaborations with taiko drummer, Koji Nakamura.

I have also become interested in “Sound Healing” since attending the International Sound Healing Conference last November. Any insights about sound, vibration and healing are welcome. It is time for the new.

Let’s get together this Friday.

Benefit for the women of Juarez

Santa Fe Plaza downtown, Santa Fe, NM
Madi’s new song “It Doesn’t Matter” will be featured:

It Doesn’t Matter c. 2006 written by Madi Sato and Gabriel Lawton

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’ve been
I want to know if you dance in the mighty wind
Can you make pain beautiful?
Can you be with your lonely soul?

It doesn’t matter where you’re going or how you’ve lived
I want to know if you dance in the rain
Can you look in my face and see yourself?
Can you free divinity within yourself?

I am your sister, You are a butterfly
I am your mother, You are the tears I cry
I am your love, You are a child of the stars

I want to know how you feel
Underneath that silver veil
Are you a farmer on your knees?
Taking only what you need?

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’ve been
I want to know if you dance in the sun
Can you find your truth in this techno world?
Do you fall apart or come alive when transformed?

It Doesn’t Matter c. 2006 written by Madi Sato and Gabriel Lawton
